Blog Action Day Banner

For Blog Action Day 08, Arbenting did a post to promote awareness for this year’s cause, Poverty. The article was ’Starving Artists’ Unite To Fight True Poverty, and in it, we vowed to keep the fight going for a whole year. Doing what we could to continue waking people up from their apathetic slumber, which has actually contributed to this problem. So we dedicated a year, one post a month!

Coverage

We highlighted a couple of other designer’s efforts in this fight. One of which has had an amazing response. Jacob Cass of Just Creative Design has started a group writing project for charity which has garnered a fantastic buffet of prizes for those who participate.

We started a Designer Poverty Awareness flickr group where users could submit theme based designs for showcase each month from an announced poverty statistic. We did not offer any prizes, and we got one submission. And though it will be a good and powerful one, it will be a short showcase this month. We are hoping that more people will take a few moments when they find free time, to contribute. Our fact for this month, will be ’At least 80% of humanity lives on less than $10 a day.’. This staggering fact is rarely offered coverage, let alone, consideration. Let that sink in for a moment. If you figured the daily cost of the amenities so many of us take for granted, they would quickly add up taking their toll on your total sapping most, if not all, of your $10 limit.

Flickr Group Showcase

Show that you care about this out of control, pandemic problem, and help raise awareness today. It’s never too late to act. It’s only too late, if we fail to act and continue the ignorance. Put your design skills to work for this fight against poverty, and upload them our Flickr group. Last month’s entry is showcased below. Check back later as our Blog Action Day 08 Extended Coverage continues.
