Over 550 Photoshop Brush Packs Free for Commercial Use

58,059 views 27 Comments

As a compliment to our tutorial post for this week, 30 Tutorials That Will Teach You Photoshop, we thought Arbenting should put together a piece to go along with it. We have scoured the tubes to find you the coolest collection of commercial free-use Photoshop brush packs we could dig up. So check ‘em out and enjoy.

Redheadstock's Brushes
126 different high resolution brush sets, this is always my first stop for brushes since it offers so many different options and categories.

Punksafetypin's Brushes
57 misc sets. lots of hand drawn designs and people

Szuia's Brushes
31 brush sets, mostly abstract in nature. Lots of great textures, swirls and circle designs.

The Design Bureau
9 grunge themed brush packs, the preview above shows all 9 sets.

Darkresources Brushes
One of the smaller collections with 11 sets but contains some of the best brushes. The hair brushes are some of the best i’ve ever used.

photoshopbrushes.com
40 sets of misc themed brushes. Has quite a lot of animal skull brushes which I find kind of strange but some might find them useful.

Faeth-Design's Brushes
52 brush sets. The moon & star set and the tree set really stand out.

RL-Brushes
236 brush packs - lots of gothic, art deco & animal brushes as well as a great selection of borders.

Photoshop Free Brushes
6 brush packs - painting strokes, perspective grids and smoke brushes

Deathoflight's Brushes
3 sets of tree brushes

Photoshoprangerstock's Brushes
12 brush sets - most are only 100×100 which drastically limits their usability but the coffee stains make them worth making the list.

Bittbox
6 high resolution brush sets from Bittbox

Splatter Brushes
Just one set of splatter brushes but worth making the list.

Smashing Magazine's Brushes
Another single pack but one of my favorite grunge sets from Smashing Magazine

We know you’ll be playing with these for a while, but if you know of any of your favorite commercial free-use brush packs we have ignored to add, hit us up in the comments and drop a link.

Proof you can have an unattractive website and be a “design blog”…

@Thomas - No problem! I hope we could turn the brush king on to some new stuff :)

@Joe Blow - It would have been helpful to hear some of your suggestions or examples of what you think makes the blog unattractive. I also assume that the quote marks around design blog mean that you don’t see our site as a genuine design blog. I would love to know if you came to this conclusion based simply on the design of the site or if you actually read through some of our content before making the claim. Regardless, I’ll give a short explanation of what I like about the site design and why I chose to go with this design.

When designing my blog I wanted to do something that would make us stand out from other design blogs as well as show my personal style. I’m a huge color lover which is why I chose the bright color scheme. And, though I realize that the main ACD page isn’t around anymore, I designed the blog to be a wild, overgrown version of it. I thought the torn paper really enhanced the grungy, tangled look of the design and quite honestly, I just really liked it.

Again, if you would like to offer some constructive criticism, we completely welcome it.

Hey Angie, I think your site is great and I dig this page. I took a color theory class and passed with a high B, so I don’t think I’m wrong. I also admire your typographic and layout skillz ;) Keep up the great work and thanks for all the cool!!

@Ruby - Thanks so much for the compliments! I’m really glad you’re enjoying the site and freebies. Hearing people’s appreciation really keeps us going!

@Rudiarsana - no problem, I’m glad we could give you some new resources.

It never ceases to amaze me how ungrateful and tasteless people can be. I stummbled upon this site and I am definitely going to come back. The layout and colorscheme are fine for goodness sakes, plus it’s easy to understand and laid out nicely. Don’t feel you have to justify yourself to someone that has nothing better to do than stroke their own ego by upsetting others… there is a lot to be said for keeping things to yourself.

  • Robert Bowen said:

@ nate - online anonymity is wonderful thing. So many people able to express themselves without inhibitions, boundaries, thought or consideration. It’s great!

No, but thanks so much for the kind words! Much appreciated.

And hey, Joe Blow, puh-leeze. I love the cranberry-ness of her website.
