@Thomas — No problem! I hope we could turn the brush king on to some new stuff :)
@Joe Blow — It would have been helpful to hear some of your suggestions or examples of what you think makes the blog unattractive. I also assume that the quote marks around design blog mean that you don’t see our site as a genuine design blog. I would love to know if you came to this conclusion based simply on the design of the site or if you actually read through some of our content before making the claim. Regardless, I’ll give a short explanation of what I like about the site design and why I chose to go with this design.
When designing my blog I wanted to do something that would make us stand out from other design blogs as well as show my personal style. I’m a huge color lover which is why I chose the bright color scheme. And, though I realize that the main ACD page isn’t around anymore, I designed the blog to be a wild, overgrown version of it. I thought the torn paper really enhanced the grungy, tangled look of the design and quite honestly, I just really liked it.
Again, if you would like to offer some constructive criticism, we completely welcome it.
Hey Angie, I think your site is great and I dig this page. I took a color theory class and passed with a high B, so I don’t think I’m wrong. I also admire your typographic and layout skillz ;) Keep up the great work and thanks for all the cool!!

It never ceases to amaze me how ungrateful and tasteless people can be. I stummbled upon this site and I am definitely going to come back. The layout and colorscheme are fine for goodness sakes, plus it’s easy to understand and laid out nicely. Don’t feel you have to justify yourself to someone that has nothing better to do than stroke their own ego by upsetting others… there is a lot to be said for keeping things to yourself.
@ nate — online anonymity is wonderful thing. So many people able to express themselves without inhibitions, boundaries, thought or consideration. It’s great!

I’ve been a web designer going on 8 years and I don’t understand the comment made by the guy at the top about this site being unattractive. This site was obviously well thought out. Everything is compartmentalized and looks very neat and organized. Some designers try to get really fancy with their layouts and forget the basics of userability. This is a clean design and the site is easy to navigate, as all sites should be.

Hey Krissy. I just checked all of the links and they’re working from my end. You should just have to click on one of the images and it will take you to the brush site.
Are ALL of these brushes free and free for commercial use, too.
Yup, I checked out all of the licenses when I put the post together and they are all free for commercial use.
