Wednesday Web of Inspiration: Amazing Fantasy Photomanipulations

As digital artists, or rather one digital artist and one copywriter with an enthusiasm for digital art, we have always held a special place in our hearts for this medium. In particular, photomanipulations have always been a favorite area of exploration for us in this medium. Filling the digital landscape with creative re-imaginings of these once stolen moments of time, and finding new moments to build them into. In this edition of the Wednesday Web of Inspiration, we focus on amazing fantasy photomanipulations as our subject.

Taking pieces of pictures and creating an entire new world for them to inhabit is an awesome feat in and of itself, but taking the ordinary and taking it to extraordinary places within the realm of fantasy art is just that much more awesome. The following collection of images do just that, with style and flawless integration. With such an amazing selection to choose from, the hardest part of putting this post together was choosing which images would have to be omitted (not to mention keeping it limited to the usual post length…I smell a follow-up coming on this one). Anyway, we hope you enjoy the inspiring works of art we have gathered for you, if not, oh well, we dig them so it’s not a total loss. ;)

I like the dragon one a lot, but what is it about these airbrushed, photoshopped pics that looks so…they all sort of look the same. They are quite nicely done, but there’s a sameness to them…they all have the same exact texture. That’s it! they are all so SMOOTH, and fakey (yes, they are fantasy pics, so why not look fake) but they remind me of all the CGI in the SpiderMan movies: cartoony and trying-but-not-succeeding-in-looking-like-photographs-of-really-cool-freaky-stuff
